Safeguarding
Safeguarding at QES
At QES, the safety, health and wellbeing of every student are at the heart of everything we do.
We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff, governors and volunteers share a strong commitment to keeping our students safe.
We take the time to listen to our young people and act on what they tell us. Our aim is for every student to feel safe, supported and able to thrive during their time at QES.
All staff receive regular safeguarding training, and our pastoral team are trained to Level 3 in safeguarding and child protection. We’re proud of the caring culture we’ve built – one where students know there is always someone they can turn to if they’re worried about something.
Staff are trained to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect and to report any concerns straight away to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
We follow the statutory guidance set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025, and our approach is supported by clear school policies and procedures.
We work closely with parents and carers to help every child reach their full potential. However, there may be rare occasions when we need to contact external agencies before speaking with parents or carers. This is always done with the student’s safety and wellbeing as our top priority, and in line with government guidance and the procedures of the Luton Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP).

Social media and the internet are hugely popular with many of our students, they use these in various different formats.
At QES we teach students about the importance of staying safe and keeping themselves safe online, however social media, like all forms of public communication, comes with risks.
Not all of these risks turn into actual problems. By helping your child understand what the risks are, you can play a big part in preventing them from turning into problems.
Below are a number of internet sites that provide useful information on how to keep your child safe on the internet, and on the use of social media.
